Bush Breakfast: Surprises in the Serengeti
Set in a grassy plain in northern Tanzania, in a private reserve adjacent to the Serengeti National Park, you will find a charming 1920s-style explorer’s camp. Steeped in character and a sense of nostalgic adventure, Singita Sabora Tented Camp surprises guests with an opulence that is delightfully out-of-place with the rugged terrain of the surrounding savannah.

One of the most wonderful things about the camp is the intimacy with the landscape that it offers guests. Visitors are fully immersed in this pristine wilderness and its spectacular wildlife, with just a tent flap separating them from the elements. This experience extends beyond the accommodation itself to the unforgettable moments that play out while away from the camp.
In an effort to continuously delight and surprise, the team at Singita Sabora Tented Camp have been known to set up a “bush brunch” for couples and small groups while out on their morning game drive. The vehicle will bump along a sandy track and come to Nyuki; a beautiful spot under two flat-topped acacia trees whose thorny branches entwine overhead to form a natural umbrella. Here the guests will sit, shaded from the sun and with a fabulous view of the Serengeti, and enjoy a private meal in a truly unique location.
The scene is set around a Persian rug laid out on the grass, with traditional wood-and-canvas campaign chairs and Persian pillows for extra comfort, and a woven picnic hamper brimming with freshly-prepared food. The menu might include homemade muffins, a selection of cheeses, a stack of pancakes, croissants filled with brie and cranberry preserve, or spinach and ricotta quiche. Those with a smaller appetite can enjoy a brightly-coloured fresh fruit platter, a breakfast parfait and some wholewheat bread, baked especially that morning. After that feast, it might be difficult to keep for guests to keep their eyes open, but you never know what might be just around the corner as the game drive continues…
