The beginning of a new year is always good cause for reflection; to look back at the highs and lows of the previous 12 months and reaffirm future goals and intentions. Singita’s vision is an enduring one that has given purpose and direction to the company for more than 20 years. This vision – to preserve and protect large tracts of African wilderness for future generations – has been fulfilled through the continuous support of our extended Singita family.

While this time of year can be fraught for many of us, Christmas at Singita is an altogether relaxed affair. African-inspired decorations adorn the lodges, festive treats abound from the kitchen and guests unwind in the sunshine around the swimming pool.

Among the many unique aspects of Singita Explore, a private-use tented camp on the plains of the Serengeti, is its flexibility. Specifically designed to take advantage of the changing landscape and wildlife activity, the tents are moved throughout the year to give guests the best possible experience of this epic piece of wilderness.

There’s nothing like discovering an intimate escape for a winter’s weekend (July is winter in the southern hemisphere) – especially if it includes safari, the tranquility of the wild, a pampering spa and some of the best wine and food that South Africa has to offer. Singita Sweni Lodge is that place – nestled beautifully amongst hundreds of trees at the edge of the Sweni River, within a private 33,000 acre concession in the Kruger National Park.

Singita Pamushana Lodge located on the 130,000-acre Malilangwe Reserve, partners with the Malilangwe Trust, every year to co-host an internationally renowned course on Chemical and Physical Restraint of African Wildlife.  The course originated in Zimbabwe more than 30 years ago when the Government Veterinary Service (GVS) was asked to assist in the training of National Parks personnel in safe wild animal capture.
