Careers in the Kitchen: A Day of Inspiration at Rigicha Secondary School

The health and happiness of the communities close to Singita’s reserves is a key part of preserving the integrity of these wilderness areas and their wildlife. In order to ensure this positively enhancing balance between tourism, the community and conservation is maintained, Singita and its partners, like the Singita Grumeti Fund in Tanzania, employs dedicated staff on each property to co-ordinate active support for development initiatives.

Community Visits at Singita Grumeti

One of the most rewarding aspects of Singita’s mission to protect some of Africa’s most pristine wilderness, is being able to share the impact of sustainable hospitality with our guests. Excursions to the small villages near our lodges enable our guests to gain insight into daily community life and illustrate the importance of community upliftment in Singita’s approach to modern conservation.

From fairly humble beginnings in the USA in 1970, the event has grown to include more than 1 billion participants in Earth Day activities each year, making it the largest civic observance in the world.

Star Student: Letter of Thanks from a Singita Grumeti Fund Scholarship Recipient

One of the main objectives for Singita’s community development programmes is creating a generation of well educated children. This usually takes the form of supporting early childhood development, but another very important aspect of this goal is further education. The Singita Grumeti scholarship fund invests heavily in the education of local youth in Tanzania, and has enabled hundreds of young people to complete their schooling, as well as tertiary-level diplomas and degrees.

Grassland Giants

Singita Grumeti, situated adjacent to the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania, is an integral part of the Serengeti-Mara Ecosystem. Singita manages the concession on behalf of the non-profit Grumeti Community and Wildlife Conservation Fund, and is responsible for the long-term sustainability of the reserve. Elephants, the gentle giants of the grasslands, form an essential part of this ecosystem. Here field guide Ross Couper tells us more:

The Legendary Allure of Tanzania’s Serengeti

The Serengeti’s storied plains are a thing of wondrous beauty; endless grasslands, winding rivers, rocky volcanic outcrops and thorny acacia forests. Renowned for its epic mammal migration which draws thousands of safari lovers every year, this pristine wilderness is also one of the best places in the world to see lions in their natural habitat, along with a host of other unique wildlife.
