Home to the Great Migration
Maasai Mara

The Maasai Mara is one of Africa’s greatest wildlife reserves. Situated in southwest Kenya, the Mara forms the northern section of the Serengeti in Tanzania. The Reserve and the private conservancies around it are world famous for an abundance of big cats – lion, leopard and cheetah – as well as for the Great Migration when each year over two million wildebeest and zebra arrive from the Serengeti in July, August and September. The areas bordering the reserve are still home to thousands of Maasai tribespeople, giving visitors a chance to learn more about their colourful customs and lifestyle.
