The rugged area of Damaraland is home to a large proportion of Namibia’s wildlife. Southern Damaraland has many geological and historical attractions and is a popular region for off-road camping expeditions. The land rises slowly up towards a great escarpment and volcano-induced peaks break up the endless plains. Northern Damaraland has the greatest concentration of game as the terrain gradually evolves and leads to Etosha National Park. The region is divided into several enormous private game reserves that support most species of Namibia’s large game and birds.
