Singita Mara River Tented Camp: In Tune with the Earth

The Mara River flows from the Mau Forest in the Rift Valley, across 13,500 km2 through Kenya and into Tanzania, before draining into Lake Victoria, Africa’s largest lake. The river is a vital source for grazing animals nearby and, as such, forms an important part of the annual migration route that cuts a swathe through the Serengeti.

Grassland Giants

Singita Grumeti, situated adjacent to the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania, is an integral part of the Serengeti-Mara Ecosystem. Singita manages the concession on behalf of the non-profit Grumeti Community and Wildlife Conservation Fund, and is responsible for the long-term sustainability of the reserve. Elephants, the gentle giants of the grasslands, form an essential part of this ecosystem. Here field guide Ross Couper tells us more:

The Legendary Allure of Tanzania’s Serengeti

The Serengeti’s storied plains are a thing of wondrous beauty; endless grasslands, winding rivers, rocky volcanic outcrops and thorny acacia forests. Renowned for its epic mammal migration which draws thousands of safari lovers every year, this pristine wilderness is also one of the best places in the world to see lions in their natural habitat, along with a host of other unique wildlife.
