Gil Genio and family

Makweti is such a lovely lodge, very friendly staff, and the tandem of Chef Johannes with Melanie gave us gourmet food three meals a day.  The actual facilities are also very nice and upscale.

You will recall that you had recommended a waterfront hotel, and I decided Taj as it was in the middle of town and shops etc.  But shops close early, and the free time we had was on a Sunday when shops around Taj were closed.  We ended up in taxis or shuttles to the VA waterfront anyway.  I would recommend waterfront for any traveller, hands down, and the mall and the large number of restaurants in the area are a big draw.

We did the winelands tour and based on discussions, did only one wine/cheese place, spent some time going around Stellenbosch and Franschhoek, and we had discovered that there is a motor museum in Franschhoek so that is where we went. 200 classic cars of which 80 are on display, all in running condition.  We were extremely lucky with the weather, including Table Mountain where the fog/clouds lifted just in time, and it started raining the day we left!   Best part was seeing all the key animals in their natural setting, Makweti guide Test and Makweti food and lodgings.
